the eggbot

the eggbot

while easter is a few months away, that is just enough time to order the eggbot, a open-source egg
decorating robot. the robot is a small mechanical device that can draw on any spherical object,
including eggs that range in size from 4-10cm in diameter. users simple place the object in the
eggbot and hook it up to their computer. using the freeware program inkscape, line drawings on
the computer are then transferred to the egg. the pen used to draw can also be switched to achieve
multiple colours and effects. the device comes unassembled so that users also learn a little about
DIY robotics. because the project is open source, users are also free to hack and repurpose the
device as they see fit.  the eggbot sells for 195 USD.
