solderin’ skaters is a project that transforms the nokia n900 into an interactive skateboarding game that records real skating.
because the n900 is built on open source software, it is ideal for hacking and modding into new uses. one of the possible
reuses is to record data capture from a skateboarder and use it to interact with a game on screen. the system utilizes special
sensors that have been integrated into the design of the skateboard, measuring what types of tricks are being performed.
this data is then sent to the nokia phone and provides the software with information that gives the user points based on
their actions. the same principles are currently being developed for snowboarding as well.
