johns phones are perhaps the antidote to the complex technology forward mobiles released each year.
created and developed by the dutch design studio john doe, these phones aim to be one thing and one
thing only: a phone. dubbed the world’s simplest cell phone, johns phones allow users to make and
receive calls without add-ons like a camera, text messaging or a variety of ringtones. the interface is
stripped down to the familiar keypad with buttons to adjust the volume and lock the buttons. users can
store numbers using speed dial or record contact info using the paper address book and pen stored in the
back. the phone comes with a one display that is used to show numbers located on the top side of the
device. the phone comes in five colours and is currently available on the dutch market.

I'm pretty sure that there are usability problems.
Plus, it will probably be cheap but still have a designer price tag on it. (By that I mean, it will still be more expensive than the simplest nokia model which is probably much more functional and user friendly)

1. Battery life of 3 (three) weeks.
2. It's UNLOCKED and works with every carrier worldwide.
3. The reception is better then any other phone.

It's called the Dumb phone ;)
People that are thinking it's overpriced: there's no plan attached that gives away the phone for free. Carriers / service providers spoiled the prices for phones. If you want to compare, compare to other unlocked cell phones.
Btw no usability problems encountered so far.

How is this phone easier than using the phone functionality on an iphone?
You are losing important features with something as ridiculous as physically writing down people's numbers. That turns 'simplicity' into nightmare when you have to sift through 50+ numbers and decipher handwriting.
Plus the buttons on the side are coarse and ugly, and a simple phone shouldn't need cartoon people icons to denote answer and hang-up.
This phone is just misdirected design.
