'lifebook frame series' by florian langer + patrick decker from germany is one of seven entries that received the 'judge's special award'
among over 3000 participants from our recent designboom competition 'a life with future computing' organized in collaboration
with FUJITSU and DA - design association japan.

designer's own words:
our lifebook design brings integrates individual capabilities of devices such as smart phones and slate terminals within a single computer.
'lifebook frame series' features an integrated and detachable multifunctional unit – the 'lifegear' device, and a clear structured
frame-based layout which provides transparency over the assignment of technical components. easy maintenance is ensured by the
keyboard's clever substructure. within the lifebook, the lifegear serves as a number pad, touch pad, graphic tablet as well as
a social network interface. when one is on-the-go, it can be used as a smartphone with handy data management.

this is the most disappointing thing since my son, there are so many things wrong with this i don’t know where to start, i’ll try to list them in a few lines - 1. why? really why? 2. redundancy - you have 10 products which all require a cpu, a display, batteries, memory, storage, built in wireless adapter , instead of having just one product, not only will it be more easy to manufacture and carry around but also be quote from the brief “green: that it is friendly to the environment.” but the jury didn’t bother with the brief

also didn’t that french homosexual judge gwenael nicolas said in one of those youtube interviews that he was looking for something innovative, i mean this entry along with 5 other entries here are the same concept, but the jury is either incompetent or just plain dumb or both
