clone factory: mini-me dolls

eerily accurate to the smallest detail, tokyo-based clone factory is now creating mini clone dolls
from 3D modelling and printing technology. fully processed in the company's akihabra office,
the service is capable of replicating hairstyles, makeup and clothes to fully encapsulate
a special moment such as the customer's wedding day.

to start the process, high-res photographs are taken of the customer's head from a number of
DSLR cameras at multiple angles. the information is then processed by a computer to create
a detailed 3D model which is then fed into a 3D printer. painted to fully imitate their
real-life counter part, the cloning serve costs 1,770 USD.

(This reminds me of "Mariquita Perez," the most famous doll between 40 and 50 in Spain, Portugal and parts of Hispanic America.
A very intelligent lady and a great business vision, was able to start a business at a time when Spain was virtually bankrupt due to the recent civil war and the subsequent disastrous autarky, which only worsened things even more economically .
This lady used to walk with her young daughter by the hand along the beach, with a doll he won in a party some popular attractions over there.
I used to dress your daughter like the wrist, with models designed and produced by her.
Such was the expectation that created in its wake, everyone stopped to admire a young girl and her doll, dressed like excat.
This intelligent lady, saw a seam in it and sought help both financially, to search for a name for the doll.
In the end, the artisan who commissioned the doll placed an order for a thousand dolls and they were emcargó exactly the same height and appearance to the girl (very pretty with blue eyes).
It seems that the dolls were sold between November and December 1940, considering that the average wage then was rather low.
