the hammacher schlemmer ‘world’s smallest camera’, based on JTT’s ‘chobi cam one’

like the japanese ‘chobi cam one‘ on which it is based, the ‘world’s smallest camera‘ by distributors hammacher schlemmer offers photo and video shooting in a package not much larger than an SD card. measuring 1.125 inches wide by an inch tall and 1.06 inches wide (2.86 x 2.54 x 2.7 cm),  the tiny autofocus camera weighs half an ounce. it takes 2-megapixel 1600 x 1200 photos and 640×480 AVI video at 30fps.

the camera appears to be the american release of the ‘chobi cam one’ produced by japanese manufacturers JTT (japan trust technologies). slightly smaller at 0.98 x 0.98 x 1.02 -inches (2.5 x 2.5 x 2.6 cm) and 0.4oz (12g). it shoots at similar specs to the ‘world’s smallest camera’: JPEG photos at 1600 x 1200, and XVID (compressed AVI) video of up to three minutes. unlike the hammachler schlemmer model, the ‘chobi cam one’ features three different magnetically attached lenses.

data for either device is stored on a micro SD / SDHC card and uploaded via USB. they both retail for about 100 USD.
