the ‘swivl’ tracking stand for cameras

swivl‘ is a rotating and swiveling camera dock for handheld cameras, permitting the automated tracking of subjects.

the motorized primary dock connects wirelessly to a marker unit, following its every move and keeping the subject in the camera frame. ‘swivl’ tracks in both the horizontal and vertical tilt direction, compatible with iPhones and any point-and-shoot camera or videocamera with a tripod mount. users can hold or wear the marker device on their person or whatever subject they would like tracked; one novel use is in lectures or speeches, where the unit can be used like a pointer to designate what is meant to be kept in the frame.

the result of a successful crowdfunding campaign on indiegogo, ‘swivl’ is available beginning early 2012 for an expected 160 USD. the device will be publicly presented at the 2012 consumer electronics show.
