the ‘revolve’ camera dolly is a low-cost, modular alternative to conventional equipment, currently seeking funding on kickstarter

designed by american videographer jeremy canterbury and currently seeking funding on kickstarter, the ‘revolve‘ camera dolly is a universal, modular system to facilitate the capture of smooth video and time lapse photography. offering a range of mounts including both standard ball and horseshoe, as well an iPhone mount extension designed by studio neat, the device is almost universally compatible across cameras, and is designed as a functional alternative to the very expensive costs of conventional camera equipment.

composed of aerospace grade aluminum, the ‘revolve’ dolly itself is constructed with adjustable axes, permitting it to travel in a straight line or curved arc of any angle. ruler marks along the body assist in proper alignement of the wheels. one central and two side mounts allow users to interchange accessory equipment, which ranges from a ball head to monopod to rail kit (for use on rough terrain) to the aforementioned iPhone mount for video capture on smartphones. users may also attach lighting units to the dolly, making it a kind of all-in-one portable filming kit.

the ‘rail kit’ permits the use of ‘revolve’ even on rough terrain, consisting of a set of pipe clamping blocks (both of which contain a horseshoe mount underneath to enable them to be placed atop tripods) and four guide rods for the ‘revolve’ dolly. by inserting PVC or other rods into the blocks, the dolly can slide smoothly along the rails.

the adjustable ‘monopod’ screws directly into the central base of the dolly and is adjustable from 20 to 65 -inches (63.5 – 165.1 cm). alternatively, canterbury notes that the device can be used as an image stabilizer by having the dolly serve as a counterweight in handheld shots.
