paris-based product design company netatmo has conceived a ‘personal urban weather station’, a system that monitors the environment and atmospheric quality. using an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, the two devices are capable of tracking indoor and outdoor conditions including temperature, humidity, air pressure and CO2 levels. the ‘netatmo weather station’ quantifies personal surroundings within a home or office, and wirelessly transmits the data to the interactive netatmo app interface.

by integrating air quality sensors into the modules, gathered data enables users to have a better informed sense of their indoor or outdoor living conditions, helping them improve their quality of life. with a measurement of CO2 concentrations and an air confinement evaluation, the device can warn users when CO2 levels reach an excessive point, advising them to ventilate their interior space. the system’s integrated urban weather program helps create a network for weather data monitoring for meteorologists, environmental activists, scientists and people living in urban environments to gain a better understanding of their city climate landscape.
