autodesk sketchbook mobile

last week autodesk released a mobile version of their digital sketching program sketchbook for the iphone.
the application features many of the same professional-grade tools as the desktop application for only
a few dollars. designers and artists can use the software as their own handheld digital sketchpad, making
everything from quick diagrams or sketches to full fledged digital artwork. now that mobile devices are
powerful enough to handle image creation and manipulation, autodesk aims to gives users this more
portable option. the application features a number of brushes, a full colour palette, layer capability and
photo integration straight from the iphone camera. before long, napkin sketches will be a thing of the past.

the iphone has become quite an intimidating and powerful fetish object. nobody can deny that is has stunning features but i still like to think of it as a mobile phone. the only excuse for drawing with your iphone is that you can. meh-meh-maybe autodesk should develop a mini pocket-printer so you can print your sketches quickly...then again, i'd rather sketch with my favorite pen on a napkin for a much more easily and speedy result...

A nice gimmick app, but one without too big ambitions I hope. Very good for just sketching on the go, when ideas come to mind :)

And that's how architects and designers end up surrending to the stupid 'fast food' clients who believe that "you've got all the 'awesome' equipment to draw it fast, so why can't can't I have my house by tomorrow?"... and thus our inspiration and peace are no more.

It's another medium for expression. It will find its place just like your napkin and pencil, paint and canvas, or colored chalk on the sidewalk.

I'm just going to enjoy.

Some of you folks are taking this too seriously. Geez, it's not meant to replace anything. You can actually work on this thing on the train, with layers, airbrushes etc. It's not going to replace any 'real' app, or pen and paper, but you can't deny that it's cool and fun. Take it easy.

Got the app a couple days ago and I LOVE it.

Here's my second drawing attempt

Had trouble with the accuracy at first, but once you get the hang of it it's great.

Although I would really like a pinpont stylus that worked with the iPhone...

I'm a person who gets ideas in a odd places and then puts it down on a notebook...and once all the pages are used the book is allowed to be lost!

I'm a happy person now :)

I tried to download the Autodesk SketchBook Mobile in my i-phone and I couldn't. It seems that it only works in the new i-phones? Somebody could sugegst a way of downloading to an old i-phone?Thanks.
