nova DSLR camera concept

nova DSLR camera concept

california college of the arts student erin fong developed this DSLR camera concept to update the digital
camera form factor. her nova camera takes the standard DSLR format and modifies it by splitting the
control over two arms putting all the control right at the user’s finger tips. the arms can move around the
central lens allowing a multitude of picture taking positions. the design is perfect for right and
left-handed users and can even be operated with only one handle, borrowing from the camera phone style
of picture taking. the design aims to explore the form of the camera now that it isn’t dictated by the
conventions of film.

Nice idea, but how do you hold a camera steady with your arms out like that?

See Joe McNally on holding a camera.
Nermal   11.30.09
Cool but useless, stability for framing, long exposure, and tripod docking would be really challenging, maybe for the point a shoot market.
n3   11.30.09
cool is this what is taught in school now, exact drawing to exact product... any research in between?

Don't be a hater of 'new'....or of the 'Point & Click Market'
..... says in description that it takes off from Phone cameras...who steadies the phone? Maybe those"handles" double as tripod, or there is a tripod mount not visible in the photos.
Recall please that almost everyone thought that the first camera phones were silly....Who decided a rectangle is the only shape that produces a"real photo" the person who used the Camera Obscura? the film producers?
And of course there was research, do you think Canon invested in this without product and market research
Charmain Giuliani   12.01.09
Look ma, if I throw it, will it come back like a boomerang?
FishEye Studio   12.01.09
very bad ergonomics...
aah   12.01.09
Completely stupid concept! Do you take pictures?
Southern Ca   12.01.09

RFZ   12.02.09
VERY NICE! MUST TRY!

stupid people that hate new ideas, yes you guys...
Fabian   12.02.09
Typical! Resist change at whatever cost. You will go nowhere with those thoughts.

This is a great idea!
dm   12.02.09
How about stupid people who will not admit failure, yes you Fabian! You can stick you head in the toilet and pull the flush to wash you hair, isn't that a new idea !! Oh! I am sorry, maybe you have tried that already...People are free to come up with new ideas and people are just as free to give a comment!!

This looks at another example of "designers" who decide to "redesign" or in this case "update the form factor" of something they know little or less about. They usually end up with a totally useless "concept", like this. Arrogant little critters who think they know it all, wasting money on their ego rides. I'm been trying to cooperate with designers for ten years and I'm sorry, they're all morons.
ArseDesign   12.05.09
ArseDesign, I believe the one who's a moron here is you. Sure, I'm not saying this new camera-design is the perfect design for steady shots and so on, but still, it can be worth a try! And that you say that all designers are morons, exactly WHAT THE F*CK are you talking about just now?! Have you met one designer in 10 years and decided he's a moron? No, you're trying to be a cool guy on the internet, just like me, so stfu and stop the hatin'!
(At least I'm brave enough to write my real nickname, google it bietch)
