panasonic 3D HDTV

CES 2010 was the year of 3D HDTV, with major product announcements from all the major manufacturers.
panasonic debuted one of the most impressive displays with their 152 inch monster and one of the more
realistic units with their VT25 series. these thin displays are most notable for having their release date
sometime this spring. this will make them one of the first 3D HDTVs on the market. the unit comes with
a set of 3D glasses that create three dimensional images using the LC shutter system. this technology
works by darkening and lightening the left and right lenses on the glasses in synch to the display, which
correspondingly shows the right and left eye images. these flashes are so quick that the human eye cannot
perceive them and instead creates the illusion of three dimensions. panasonic also debuted an
accompanying 3D blu-ray player and a 3D video camera.

Doesn't 3D get dolled up and pseudo-marketed during every economic lull? I'll speculate this tech will be pulled shortly before the ALL NEW, more "reasonably priced" 2k and/or 4k highdef media is brought to the market.
