newspaper e-reader by LG

korean company LG recently unveiled a flexible e-ink display that is about the size of a newspaper.
the new display is made from a flexible e-paper that gives the user the feeling of reader a real newspaper.
the display measures 19 inches across and is only 0.3 mm thick.
the screen is able to achieve this remarkable thinness and flexibility because it’s backed by a metal foil rather than glass substrate. this metal foil allows the device to flex and then return to its original form while remaining durable. while this 19 inch model is merely a prototype, LG has stated that they will release a smaller 11.5 inch model this year. this technology could change the whole e-reader sector, offering flexible displays along with more traditional rigid models.

Using paper as a medium for literature will soon be a fetish for collectors like LP vinyls. Great news for trees~

ingenious.

Also, great news for the struggling (local) newspaper industry. An innovative way to survive.

Not sure what flexibility offers you, you still have to carry around a big floppy thing, no? Wouldn't you want it to fold?

Four questions:

How flexible is it, can it be rolled into a small diameter tube?
How will one cost?
How does one charge it?
How does one add content to it?

Media these days has to be easily mobile. An old-fashioned newspaper is pretty cumbersome, but works well with mobility because when you are done with it, you can chuck it away (hopefully into a recycling bin). IMO, the devices shown in the pictures above would be a pain if you had to have your own personal device and carry it around all the time. On the other hand, if publishers offered subscriptions that would allow you to grab one of these at a newsstand or convenience store; and drop it off at some convenient place when you are done, they might have something.
