jae kim: kinetic mechanical skirt

movement is one of the key design considerations when designing clothing, but industrial designer
jae kim took a mechanical approach with this skirt concept. the project is a small experiment kim created
using a simple grey skirt. the skirt is loose on top and gradually flows into a series of triangular pieces on
the bottom. the triangles created a geometric form to the skirt that is then tied to a mechanical controller.
the wearer adjusts the control located at the hip and the skirt reacts by moving the geometric grid,
creating new rigid forms from this textile. the project hints at machine embedded fashion that can
change forms at the touch of a button.

and the wooden carpet by Elisa Stroyzk - which is fine - so the skirt is ok as well!! keep on working on your stuff und have fun!

That's not functional or a pretty skirt at all. you know triangles are the base of every shape, maybe you can find something more interesting based on triangles, but not an useless mechanical skirt. Keep Working!!!

Why? Because you can? There's got to be a better reason than that to wear something this unattractive. There isnt even enough of a cool factor in the mechanics to make it interesting. Tell me who is going to wear this?
cynicalsally   04.09.10
uuuhhhhh..........Lame
not interesting at all.....even the color is bland
Avedon   04.09.10
really looks like it could use some more work...

how kinetic is that skirt??? please, don't use knobs to make it work... kinetic is to transform wile moving and not moving wile stopped by rolling some buttons... not even funny... now the shapes are nice but i think it possible to do something better and nicer than that!

keep working!! the knobs should go.
