adir zilber: street hopper
adir zilber: street hopper

israeli industrial designer adir zilber submitted street hopper, an unusual transportation vehicle to
designboom. the project was part of the industrial design course at the holon institute of technology in
holon, israel. the small scooter is designed to provide urban commuters with a fun and environmentally
friendly option for getting to an from work. instead of a seated design, the street hopper is ridden
standing up with the user’s hands on the handlebar. two small footrests provide support, while a center
mounted electric engine drives the back wheel. the rear wheel is also linked to the main body with a
suspension, making the ride a little less bumpy.

Nice design, but c'mon. An 8500watt motor on the sidewalks?

I've been seeing a lot of designs with spokeless rims lately, and while they look cool, they don't really make sense from any practical standpoint.
Scott 04.20.10
.as a biker its the first time i see a realy cool design that works with extrem urban ride.im waiting to see more of your works
roy 04.20.10
Neat design, but agree with Dan on el. motor size of 8.5kw. Would be fun on the road, but perhaps 850 watts was/is the correct power unit. That's still over 1hp and would have thought plenty for a device used on footpaths. Also duration of battery given the size of el. motor d;-)
