michael ditullo: PUMA segway redesign

michael ditullo has come up with a redesign of the PUMA vehicle that segway and GM built
a prototype of earlier this year.

'the new PUMA features a horizontal design to provide safety and comfort to the rider, it breaks the form
with several bone lines, leading the eye from front to back rather that top to bottom, and moves closer to
the ground for a smooth ride. the two-seater segway connects more emotionally with passengers through
its through form and details, other than presenting the advanced technology for brisk movement on
cramped city roads.'

hmmmm... wouldnt call it a redesign, more like a quick render.

I think that shown redesign essence is to put more weight and make segway to occupy more street space. A bit pathetic.
Segway made realy good and absolutely not affordable thing and wants to solve affordability problem adding more status (weight and space) or prestige (sitting position) to that wehicle.

i prefer the original, this redesign is more of a restyle, someone getting carried away with photoshop. the original PUMA was modernist, essential form, utilitarian. this version has heavy convex glass elements. complex double curvature (requiring complex tooling) for the bodywork.

3/10 must think harder...
