this july, lacoste will finally release its new collaboration with london-based zaha hadid architects. lacoste previewed the spring 2009 footwear at the frieze art fair in london. hadid started by digitizing the lacoste crocodile logo and then used this as a basis to explore a series of surfaces with repeated patterns, according to the press release. the shoes, rubberized structures that wrap around the leg (angle high for men and calf high for women) are as conceptual as hadid’s architectural creations themselves. when wrapped around the shape of a foot, these expand and contract to negotiate and adapt to the body ergonomically. only 850 pairs of the 5 styles will be available. available colette in paris, dover street market in london and 10 corso como in milan. a lower-price diffusion line will hit stores in september.
