julie rothhahn: food designs

‘cubes’

french designer julie rothhahn specializes in creating designs with edible ingredients. as a food designer,
rothhahn imagines new snacks, meals and entire food experiences that experiment with form, colour and
technique. some of her new projects include cube cakes, appetizer sculptures, a paper bag fruit bowl and
a book of recipes.

‘cubes’ are cube shaped cakes with four holes that provide four different mouthfuls: sweet, crunchy,
smooth and sparkling. ‘aperovino’ is an installation created by rothhahn in collaboration with lily
monsaingeon for the excentrique festival in france. capsules of wine, shortbread biscuits and skewers
were placed on wooden stands designed to look like grape vines. guests grazed the field picking their
food and wine straight from the tree, just like during the harvest. ‘after the market’ is a simple reuse of
a paper bag as a fruit bowl. rothhahn is also publishing a book in collaboration with christophe spotti
called ‘petites (re)creation de cuisine’ or in english, small (re)creations of cooking.
