studio libertiny is a design collective who will be taking part in the 'design performances' series during this year's
design miami. the designer tomáš gabzdil libertiny and his production partner lucas luyken will be performing a
demonstration titled, 'what is nature?'. they have sent us a sneak preview of vases that they will be making at
the event. although this is a rendering, the final product will be very similar. each vase will be made from 700
identical paper prints of a tree. these will be formed into a large cube which will then be carved into vase on a lathe.
10 limited edition sets of 5 vases will all be displayed along with a 2 meter long table whose surface is made from
22,000 paper strips tightly aligned to create an amazingly soft surface.
