ribbon cutting ceremony

designboom visited seoul, south korea back in december for seoul design week 2007. the festivities kicked
off with a number of opening events. the official ribbon cutting ceremony marked the start, after which
the guests of honour were treated to a personal tour by the event's artistic director, dae sung kim.

kim oversaw the whole event including his central installation based on a traditional korean archway design.
he re-interpreted the silhouette using white plastic shipping pallets and illuminated the interior with his 'hidden light'.
designboom's birgit lohmann was also invited to give a presentation at the event. once all the formal programming
finished, the show hosted a party complete with live dj and mime dancers.

check back for more coverage from seoul design week in the next days.
