milan design week 2008: tom dixon

'mirror ball stand' is a modular light fixture which holds chrome ball shades on a central rod
tom dixon displayed his new collection of lighting and furniture designs at superstudio piu in zona tortona.
the new collection was titled 'a bit rough' and aimed to display a down to earth no nonsense approach.
the 'cast glass' lighting collection was the most obvious example of this theme. the glass lights were
manufactured with the same technique as car headlights, giving them a slightly imperfect appearance.
other new pieces included the 'mirror ball stand' a modular lighting system finished in sparkling chrome
and the 'slab' collection of tables chairs and benches done in natural oak, black and even fluorescent red.
