in addition to the designers, manufacturers and buyers attending design miami/basel 2008, celebrities are also
in the mix. yesterday brad pitt made the rounds at the design event buying up a number of ‘deasign-art’ pieces.
his shopping list included 2 ‘bronze poly chairs’ by max lamb from johnson trading gallery, ‘family lamp’ by atelier
van lieshout and rococo inspired table by jeroen verhoeven, both from carpenters workshop gallery, 2 ron arad
chairs from sebastian + barquet and also put in an order for a ‘silver sky’ woven aluminum rug by jorge lizarazo
from dealer cristina grajales. pitt also showed interest in a number of other pieces including a 300,000 USD
fiberglass sofa by zaha hadid. the total value of his purchases is unknown, but the design enthusiast must have
spent around 1 million USD.

i think it is great to see him throw around a little moula.. i mean why not right?? i guess i would rather hear about him giving money to the smaller guys rather than the big guns.. but still why not right?? i think the guy does good tings..ha

I think its a good thing that pitt uses his celebrity to draw attention to important architecture
causes such as housing in New Orleans . I wonder if the items he picked up are samples
for his new 'socially conscious' hotel in Dubai .

brad pitt is sooo super-hot! he's getting even more handsome as he gets older (or I should say "mature"). i didn't know but he has been a smoker - I read here (http://www.projectweightloss.com) he quit when filming Troy... he had gorgeous abs in that movie!!

PT Barnum famously said: "there is a sucker born every minute" there are no better places to meet them than those shows. If buying a quarter mill sofa that cost about 6 grand to fabricate makes you an art conoisseur then I rather be an idiot...
