‘a glittering vista’ by full scale + partners

running down the main corridor at the interior design show was a series of tall and sparkling installations
by six design teams. the six canadian teams were each commissioned to create works which utilized
CRYSTALIZED™- Swarovski elements and STRASS® Swarovski® crystals. the teams were
comprised of a diverse group of designers who ranged in backgrounds from furniture design to pure
architecture. this range of diversity made for an equally diverse set of installations.

yvonne ho and jenny lee of full scale + partners created a multi-faceted crystal landscape for their
installation. crystal like white forms jut out from the floor, each featuring different crystal treatments
on top. one is a jagged rock like treatment, while another is a soft snowy crystal bed. the various
elements show off the diversity of the crystals and different moods they can evoke.

brothers dressler is the collaborative practice of furniture designers and brothers jason and lars dressler.
the duo used their installation to create a tree-like structure that explored the merging of manmade and
natural worlds. using bent wood segments, their design partially hangs from the ceiling and partially sits
on the ground. the branch-like segments stem from the central light fixture and are adorned with strings
of crystals that look like drips of water.

studio des carričres is the montréal based practice of architect and designer jacques bilodeau. for his
installation, bilodeau created a 12-foot high totem that combines crystals, stainless steel and black
aluminium rings. these various elements have been intertwined together to create a vine-like trellis.
the full totem is lit form above and below to add dimension to the work.

david powell and fenwick bonnell created a multi-story crystal chandelier for their installation.
using crystals, light and water, the team created a design which appears to be flying down to the
ground. a stream of crystals appears to be drifting off the main ball of light, while a series of rings
reflects the light around.
