names in lights ‘ by jill bonner + john blackburn came about through the designers’ experimentation with lighting acetate polygons as the power of words as sculptural shapes is undeniable. to form a set of molds in which the letters were the correct shape below the eyeline caused the designer’s to carve their own alphabet to create the molds. letters are cast in clear resin with added diffusion and set in a hand crafted english oak plinth. the LEDs are positioned to give optimum light blend when each light is hand wired. standard units run at (500ma (milliamps) at 5v (volts)), making them both economical and very safe. they are powered either from the mains or a USB port.
