beirut-based artist and designer najla el zein has created a wall-lamp entitled ‘6302 spoons’. the sculpture is made of 6302 individually hand-welded stainless steel spoons, assembled on a custom frame. a system was installed so that it appears to float and emits light through the structure. the design is a result of experimenting with the basic household utensil as a material for a lighting piece, which when assembled in the thousands, produces a dynamic material resembling reptilian skin.
