‘spaceframe series’ by gustav düsing 18mm birch-plywood,  kvadrat fabric, foam, 10mm glass all images by johannes foerster

london-based designer gustav düsing has developed a series of furnishings entitled ‘spaceframe’. the project’s namesake space frame is a method used to inject a small-scale application of his architectural research in the realm of furniture making. düsing introduces digital fabrication into his work by using a cnc machine to carve two dimensional elements from large sheets of 18mm birch-plywood, and then combining these components into a 3d structure via an interlocking slotting technique. the range includes a chair (which in addition to the wood is made from kvadrat fabric, and foam for the cushions) and a small and large table with glass tops.
