‘the oaks’ by soup architects ltd.

loriginally built in 1610, as the stable block for the grade I listed ham house, this wing was converted into two residential units during the 1970s. in 2010, london based soup architects ltd were commissioned to look at re-unifying the two units to form one coherent structure to allow the building to function as a single house. their contemporary proposals sensitively retains the existing internal oak structure and reinstates many of the lost features, including the original blacksmiths fire, whilst introducing modern design elements and energy saving technologies.
