‘animal vegetable mineral’ by yaron hirsch photography © oded antman

by using branches that have been damaged from caterpillars, israel-based designer yaron hirsch has captured the beautiful web of holes and tunnels decorated through insect decay in his project ‘animal vegetable mineral’. the deterioration to the eucalyptus tree is translated to functional and aesthetic elements by incorporating filler material as the foundation for creating each group of objects. the tin cast into the clock’s tunnels transfer the electricity from the battery to the switch, while the plastic cast into the tunnels of the stool and the lamp join the components together.
