‘broken heart’ by GNI projects photo by eibe sönnecken

german-british artist trio GNI projects presented their latest installment of ‘light loves collection’ at luminale 2012 in the palmengarten, frankfurt, germany with the help of korean LED manufacturer KKDC. the installation comprises of 75 red linear LED pixels, each

individually adjusted and mounted to 2.3 meter tall steel rods by hand to render the hearts image from the correct distance and angle.
at the other side of the same lawn, ‘light love light 2’ was showcased as a scaled down version for ‘love light’ which was showcased in
london during october of 2011. this piece uses electro luminescent wires, seemingly random cross-strung within a rusty steel cage.
like ‘broken heart’, the installation plays with the interaction of the visitors, to find the right viewing angle from which the illuminated
red strands line up perfectly to create the abstract image of a heart.
