french architect firm micheal labory have proposed to redesign the contemporary art museum in buenos aires, argentina. in order to manifest and enhance the city status as capital and as one of the largest cities in latin america, the integration of a landmark would promote the glamour of the skyline of puerto madero. shaped as a block of rough granite, the building pays tribute to the aconcagua – the highest peak of the andes mountain, as a symbol of the stability of contemporary artistry.

by incorporating the fragata sarmiento into the context of the museum, the boat will become an integral part of the building, exhibited as a sculpture centerpiece. the addition of a floating plaza will become a meeting place and entertainment venue for hosting outdoor events. the museum itself will host a numerous variety of art collections in a volume of space that  accommodates a range of pieces from the smallest to the most excessive with adjustable lighting conditions to complement the abundance of thematic rooms.
