‘outdoor office’ urban street furniture by adi kalina

jerusalem-based designer adi kalina has conceived the ‘outdoor office’ as a part of her graduation thesis at the bezalel academy of art & design. the furniture piece encourages people to get out of their homes and reclaim the corners of their city streets, with their laptop and a cup of coffee, making them a living, breathing part of their metropolis. the idea behind the project stems from the fact that many cities in the world attract freelance writers, journalists, designers, architects, startup engineers and students that do not have an office looking for a place to work.

the ergonomic wooden chair allows for long periods of sitting and its elongated back creates shades the user and working table
from the suns reflection. swiveling 360 degrees, it provides constant protection from the sun all day. assembled out of 35 bent
wood ribbons, it is machined to proportion and mounted to two curved 50×8 mm steel profiles.
