‘casa cerrada reformer’ by DCPP arquitectos, mexico city, mexico

mexican practice DCPP arquitectos has recently completed casa cerrada reformer in the south of mexico city, mexico. located on a rectangular plot of 10 x 20 meters, the residence is divided into positive and negative spaces in order to create a game of counterparts that define the exterior space. the building is constructed on only half of the plot with a longitudinal block of 5 x 20 meters that corresponds to the structure. the negative space is conceived as the open or public area, which is contained but not occupied. it has the same dimensions between its unbuilt counterpart. the block creates a dialogue with the transparent facade along the side, leaving its edifice open. the private areas such as the bathrooms and kitchen are left as closed elements. a solid wall contains the passage to aid in providing privacy from the neighbors.
