arthur bodolec: jack

arthur bodolec with his 'jack' chair

french product designer arthur bodolec has created 'jack', a stool that can be brought
to 'life' through a simple touch. imagining a world where objects can be woken up, given
life and take form to express themselves, 'jack' is the first in a series of designs that
transforms from an inert stool to a full functioning chair.

second generation of 'jack' furniture

based on its predecessor, the second generation of 'jack' furniture takes the form of
a flower whose petals raise upon sitting.

the only problem I see is that you can not rest your back as a normal chair, because the torque produced in the back is too small

Dr Design   04.30.10
Thank you all !
@r_romeo : you can lock the mechanism, in that way, you can rest as a normal chair !
Arthur   04.30.10
G'dday Arthur,

Great design. I was wondering whether you've made one? Does it have a locking capability when in "stool mode" as well as "normal chair"?

Cheers

That's awesome. :)
I would probably set a drink on the arm then get up, forgetting it was there. haha :P
Joe   05.01.10
i remember...this post was the last article in the previous news letter...
it's shot up to the number one...cause most of us lao it! ;-)
anuj   05.01.10
Hey, thank you again !
@jetwax: yes you can lock it on the stool mode!
@joe: my advice for your drink is to lock the chair before putting it on the arm and as you won't forget to unlock it, you won't forget to take out your drink !
Arthur   05.01.10
Now that is what I call good design!!
Su hagan   05.01.10

Teresa   05.04.10
I love how the design comes from something as innocuous as a jacob's ladder. The flower chair is fantastic also. Is that one going to use the same idea is the original?
Liz   05.04.10
those chairs are really amazing. If you haven't yet started to manufacture them, I think you should. I'd buy the last one for sure.
