designed for sawaya and moroni 2010 collection, 'lemma' chair developed by
dominique perrault and gaelle lauriot-prévost brings architectural forms onto
the scale of furniture pieces. in architecture, the repetition of a basic module generates
a facade, an envelope, space and ultimately a building. this same process applies to
lemma as its blade motifs sculpted in wood not only shape the seat and backrest but create
a repetition in three dimensional space.

'lemma cannot be considered a complete, inert chair that 'makes a statement', but as
a kinetic object that plays with full and void, according to the observer’s vantage point.
this is an object that is matter by definition, yet dematerialized of part of its design,
its structure and its stratification.

'lemma' was presented at the sawaya and moroni showroom during milan design week 2010.
