audree lapierre: infographic nutrition data

montreal-based graphic designer audree lapierre in collaboration with data visualization
company ffunction, has set out to redesign finds a way to integrate more interesting graphics
onto packaging, but also branded it using the data. ‘the data visualizations offer a clean graphic
approach of the caloric
ratio, nutrient balance completeness, ingredients and their specific
amount of carbohydrate, fat, protein
and sodium preserving.’ her concept was applied to a
milk container, utilizing an array of cool blues and greens with a minimal design layout.

Fantastic idea! Attractive, and important!

I attempted something like this in my senior thesis, I must say, this is far more effective!

It's well designed, but it sort of takes the joy out of food when it's broken down like this - calorie counting etc. Definitely wouldn't want to see food packaging move in this direction

in the USA. there were previous attempts to change the percent info to graphics but it didnt catch on. I agree its important to do, people dont like to read percent labels set in 1pt type. Its time to use strong, clear graphics to tell people what crap they are really shoving down the hatch but which graphic type is most effective is the question. I like all his ideas and also have a few of my own, maybe i can submit to designboom and show you all.
