oskar zieta + ETH zurich at DMY berlin 2010

'FIDU bonestructure'
ETH zurich and zieta prozessdesign presented the process of FIDU technology,
an invention by oskar zieta and philipp dohmen at the DMY international design festival berlin 2010.
FIDU (free inner pressure deformation) is a technology based on car manufacturing
that allows for the making of extremely stable lightweight structures using steel sheets
that is laser cut, welded and inflated by air pressure. the exhibition reflected the development
of materials, prototypes, machinery used and the resulting experimental effects. the show was
conceived as an ongoing work in progress featuring the entire range of FIDU applications and
hands-on, on site production.

'FIDU bone structure' uses a flexible skeletal like system in combination with a specially
developed ball-joint. FIDU components are assembled in a manner which allows the
creation of large constructions. this bone structure provides a strong supporting
framework.

'FIDU_voronoi'
'FIDU_voronoi' is a continuation of the 'digital chain' approach. the mould-less forming
process applied here is a simple step after laser-cutting and welding. 'standard-parts'
are redefined as anything that can be cut in sheet metal and 'written' in the FIDU
alphabet becomes standard. flat transport and simple on-site forming also distinguishes
FIDU technology.

oskar zieta: reflections
reflections is a playful installation : magic boxes have peepholes at different heights. the inside wall decorations are reflected on the entrapped objects -- zieta's inflated metallic stools.
oskar zieta: zieta bazair
the young polish designer oskar zieta presents an installation suspended between sky and earth. his renowned plopp stools, are produced, for the first time, in aluminium.
oskar zieta: ballantine’s 12 bar
the bar is constructed from a series of stacked steel blocks that are reminiscent of melting ice cubes.
kristin laass + norman ebelt: small kitchen
at only 1m˛ when closed, 'small type' serves as a dining table. when the table is rolled away, the full capability of the kitchen unit is revealed with a refrigerator, induction cooktop, oven and storage space.
wing fung ng: changeable
'changeable' is a coffee table that can easily be transformed into a chair.
christopher meyer + vicky muller: small kitch
this kitchen design allows users to hide small items such as food, bowls, and pots within the side silicon panels of the kitchen unit and, in doing so, helps to reclaim space.
