what a pity!

It's just about esthetics and not about function.
Sure, there was an attempt to make it look nice, but the shape has no relationship with carrying stuff on your bike... It's more or less a tray for in a restaurant.

The idea behind a basket on your bike, is that you can bike around with objects too big for your backpack

I agree with Tinus. Also the basket is something that one can just toss something into. Faris' tray requires time and ingenuity to figure out how to hold down each item.

Agree, besides, the regular basket has a "bikeish" appearance which this tray does not.

I disagree, I have a wire rack on my bike at the moment, and there are several items that simply don't sit well or (fit properly) especially around the tension "arm" that is intended to keep my items in place. I have looked at several options for a basket for the front of my bike, and I appreciate the open tray-like storage that this bent basket provides, as opposed to some of the traditional basket styles that are around now. It may not be the right design for everyone, but I certainly see a purpose and a good use. Way to think outside the box!

I also disagree with most of the comments, I think it has style and function. I bike daily, and carrying things is always a pain. Flexible elastics is exactly what i need

this carrier is amazing. the huge black crate that is attached to the back of my bike doesn't allow me to park it, well, most places now. and all I want is to hold my bag and a sweater when I go out. and this wood one looks very lovely. we might have more advancement in accessory technology (like this) if things didn't just get designed with the responsibility to look "bikey".

Hey guys! Thanks for your comments. I really appreciate in hearing different points of views on the design. Visually and functionally, I designed it to be different from what we normally see in bike accessories. To me, that is the whole point in releasing any new product. I wanted the basket to look and work different then the current offerings to add a whole new level of value for the cyclist. If you guys ride every day in the city to work or what ever, you would see the advantages of the tray and integrated strap design over conventional wire frame design. Thanks for the comments!

Nice, Faris. Forget "bikey!" Jeez. The term makes me think of idiots who dress up in race wear to bike to the store. I'm concerned with the durability. One good spill? Bike falling over when sitting? And the weight and security? Looks like it couldn't be stolen easily. The elastics look much easier to pack than bungees. I'll check your website to see if these are answered, unless you want to here. Very beautiful though.

Hey Tom. Good question about its durability. The vacuum molded wood is very durable. Riding with the prototype for over 4 months have proven that point. I could be clumsy at times and have dropped the bike a few times in since I have been using it. The first time was right after taking one of the photos for the website. Right after I hit that shutter, the bike fell cause of the wind. It was the moment of truth, in terms of durability, for the design. Nothing but a little scratch. It turns out that the bent wood flexes very well under impact. I hope that answered your question.

Whatever the cons are (all in all I didn't like the thing...), the way you've designed the straps to be secured was very smart. It's simple, it's quick to use. I quit using rubber straps to hold things on my bike because one have always to figure out how to hold different things every and each time you had cargo to take. The wooden feeling is nice too.

I really like it -I live in Copenhagen and bike daily, have a basket, a wire rack and also carry a big shoulder bag due to purses getting snatched by thieves on scooters.

One of the biggest obstacles is my Vinyl carrier bag when i DJ, so I have to ask what is the carry load and how does it react to rain/damp?

And I really like elastics being preplaced
