janja maidl: umbrella drying rack

'umbrella drying rack'

whether collapsed or expanded, the 'umbrella drying rack' can be put in small corners
or tucked away with your clothes. created by janja maidl, the design features rotating
arms which allows for wet laundry to be hung up easily. its ability to collapse provides
convenience to users with limited living space.

the construction of the 'umbrella drying rack' resembles that of a parasol. key to the folding
mechanism of this rack system are the joints made from metal wire and a pin which can
be removed to collapse the arms. upto 4.5kg of laundry can be placed on top of this drying unit.

when clothes are dry, the 'umbrella drying rack' can be hung alongside your wardrobe.

janja maidl's 'umbrella drying rack' was one of six graduating projects from Udk berlin
showcased during DMY international design festival 2010.

Nice design, however where is the need? An A-frame, wire (plastic coated) airer/drier is available for low bucks. It enables more clothes to be placed on it and being low tech, is much cheaper to produce. It folds flat and take up no room. If you need to see what an A-frame looks like, here's the link to The Warehouse where they have more than one model on display . . .

I like this very much. I would own one. Boo to you critics when you state that you have seen it done before. This is a good one. We see chair designs here...It is still seating that has been done before. A platform for the human buttocks.
