'the horness' was one of thirteen projects presented by students from
the potsdam polytechnic college for the kreuzberg manufacturer of hugo brauer
at DMY international design festival berlin 2010. it is produced using a metal
spinning technique. this production method is a chipless transforming process
for the fabrication of rotational-symmetric hollow bodies created out of sheet
metal. the process of giving metal a new shape and the assembly of complicated
prefabricated parts demands a lot of experience. 'horness' attempts to give this
artisanry some public cognition.
