studioilse: the together table
studioilse: the together table

the 'together table' and 'seating for eating'
studioilse (headed by ilse crawford) designs spaces and objects which are meant to add
meaning and shape to our lives, creating furniture that brings people together. as an addition
to their 'seating for eating' (settles, benches and stools), they have designed the 'together table',
made using sustainable resources, constructed in solid chestnut with copper trim and feet.

unextended state
when unextended, the table is rectangular, hiding the rounded drop leaves underneath.
when extended the round ends are meant to invite people to move up and get snug acting
as a table for eating, drinking, work or play. when it is in its unextended rectangular form,
the table seats 6-8 people. in its extended state, it can accommodate around 12 people.

the 'together table' and 'seating for eating' is produced in collaboration with de la espada.
a prototype of the 'together table' will be on show during london design week 2010.

top quality model making but not so inviting for 'bringing people together'.

such a long table hardly brings people together. the best table format for 'together' is by far the classic round table in whatever size.

Worthless pieces of garbage. Why is the back so high? Why go through the trouble of adding the folding rounded pieces? This "design" is infuriatingly pointless.

There is literally nothing special about this table.
