singaporean design studio cilicon faytory presented 'mushroom light weight concrete' furniture
collection in designboom's 'asia now' exhibition at dwell on design in los angeles.

this furniture series uses a light weight concrete system. while the material application makes
these seating units easy to transport and shift, it still incorporates the look and
feel of a concrete product. with a special sealing agent, the concrete furniture is virtually
free of maintenance.

the collection, consisting of a stool, bench and 2-seater, takes its shape from the
mushrooms commonly seen in gardens. moreover, the concrete material allows
different colours to be applied, making the furniture adaptable to various surroundings.

cilicon faytory is made up of industrial designer cici chen and architect lui honfay.
this multidisciplinary pair designs and manufactures various products from furniture
to accessories. having access to various manufacturing methods and materials, its products
are made using disparate techniques. their designs include a range of indoor residential
furniture and outdoor furniture for private and public spaces.
