and accessory manufacturers were in attendance. more than 68 exhibitors from 17 countries,
participated in the spring event, where cutting-edge technologies, qualities and finishes,

the new location brings all exhibitors together under one roof allowing visitors to have a
full-on denim experience. at the entrance of the autumn-winter 2011, visitors were welcomed
by the 'blue gallery' which showcased the latest developments for autumn winter 11-12:
the various processing steps of denim, from yarn to raw fabric, laundered and finished,
made up and finally treated, ready for its life. the showcase of fabrics, garments and accessories
give a first glance at this season, rigorous and harmoniously imperfect, dense and eco-friendly.
it was organized around the theme of transformation, symbolized by the gears of an engine room,
illustrating the various ways that denim is metamorphosized.

'denim' by première vision asked final-year students from fashion and design school
central saint martins' menswear degree course to respond to the question:
how do emerging designers imagine the jeans of the future?

gabriella massey won with her garments which draw on the theme of 'explosion'.
they were built around a supple, yet solid black shirt and five-pocket ultra-bleached jeans
with precise rips and tears. paying close attention to detail, massey's shirt-jacket featured
a subtly frayed doubld collar intended for modular wear. the contrasting jeans were vigorously
bleached so that only the memory of the original sade lingered in the seams. the initial simplicity
of the ensemble belies the sophisticated 'exploded' detailing massey worked to achieve.
