'duplication republic' by kwong wing sze + chen pei hong from china is one of the 240 shortlisted entries
from more than 5100 participants in our recent designboom competition 'design for all' in collaboration with
seoul design fair 2010.

designer's own words:
'duplication republic' highlights some of the world's well-known duplication projects, representing some of
the human behaviours of our society. it starts from the stone age, moving to social convention and includes
new inventions which have allowed us to follow 'the rules' with less self-examination...'

Love the animation but oddly narrow notion of "duplication." What about bacteria or metastasizing cancer cells or rabbits or cockroaches or mice, or malicious rumors . . . or stars?

Fun & interesting scale info., but I'm not quite sure what "make a difference" is asking the viewer to do? Not duplicate?

For me, "make a difference" refers to human behavior (copying fake product , copying thinking)
