plumen 001 light bulb

known for their repurposed retro phones, hulger has now designed a low energy light bulb with a unique twisting design.
the plumen 001 light bulb has been in the works for a number of years, with the first prototype being featured on
designboom back in novmeber 2007. the plumen 001 aims to show off the unique coil of compact fluorescent bulbs rather
than hide it like the traditional design. the plumen bulb uses 80% less energy and lasts 8 times longer than incandescent
bulbs. the form features two swerving lines that mirror each other to create a symmetrical look. the plumen 001 design
was developed in collaboration with designer sam wilkinson and 002 and 003 models are already in the works.

This is a neat twist on the CFL bulb. I still don't find the bare tubes all that attractive, but perhaps used in conjunction with an appropriate translucent shade, these could be made quite classy.

where can i buy these?

I like them, and they do look cool. However, hopefully they are not to bright, otherwise noone would really be able to appreciate them fully. They could end up looking just like a normal lightbulb, that still hurts the eyes if looked straight into, and that's more expensive of course.

Haha, those are awesome. Anyone knows where one can buy them?
