'xylophone bridge' by yeon jae won + soo jeong heo - 'seoul cycle design' competition shortlist revealed

'xylophone bridge' by yeon jae won and soo jeong heo

'xylophone bridge' by yeon jae won and soo jeong heo from korea is one of the shortlisted
design entries from more than 3000 participants in our recent designboom competition,
'seoul cycle design competition 2010', organized in collaboration with seoul design foundation.

designers' own words:
'recently, as bike road has been constructed on bridges in seoul, use of the road has increased
by many riders. when you across the bridge, 'xylophone road' will give a unique experience
that you can feel only in seoul.'

Really nice idea.

It's really hard to carry out something like this ("no utility? hard to hear sounds near by water and cycling? how many bikes you think will pass on it at the same time? how do you set up the system and so on") but could be a really good start for something else, same taste.
Good night and good luck guys.

What a fantastic Idea
I love it

Nice idea?.. it's a bumpy ride!
Reza   09.13.10
This is a really interesting concept, but I agree with Brera_Pista. I think it would be hard to hear the sounds while crossing due to cars zooming by. But I still like the idea :]

Don you think it might be annoying after the first 200 crossings? Especially when all the notes are playing at once!
Joan   09.14.10
There is so much noise pollution that the sound idea doesn't appeal to me at all. The lights could be fun once a month, but again annoying as a regular feature.
