jungyou choi and joonsoo kim of eindhoven-based studio joon & jung have created a series of chairs which explore the essence and concept of ‘relationship’. exhibiting at this year’s design september brussels at jonas gallery, the project is a part of the duo’s show entitled, ‘humanism & form’.

‘hands-on chair’ looks into ways in which a simple seating object can trigger connection among people as the urban population today becomes more detached and complex. the design was largely influenced by the global phenomenon the designers found in the culture of dance: the common denominator of groups of people dancing from around the world is their tendency to dance in a circle. by taking this concept and applying it to the design, the resulting series of chairs suggest and encourage connections and relationships.
