‘water vapor’ by sang-wook park, lee sin-jeong, lee ho-young, and jo hyeon-ju from korea is one of the shortlisted entries from more than 4000 participants in the ‘iida awards 2010‘ competition, organized by designboom in collaboration with incheon metropolitan city.

the solar and wind-powered design converts air in to vapor by causing temperature differences through a vortex tube.

designers’ own words: ‘the purpose is to create an environment where plants can live with soil moisture and water provided by the conversion of air to vapor in areas with contaminated drinking water and deserted soil.’

'water vapor' by sang wook park + lee sin jeong + lee ho young + jo hyeon ju   iida 2010 awards the central vortex tube spins at a rate of 1,000,000 RPM, compressing the air and releasing warm air between 30-90 degrees C.
