japanese designer hiroki takada has sent in images of his latest project
'tea ceremony chair 2010', which will be presented at tokyo designer's week.
made from bamboo the chair's design is based around a traditional tea whisk
used in japanese tea ceremonies. the base is split into thinner slats which forms
the elastic like backrest.

seeking to provide 'urban acupuncture' for the industrial city, the cocoon-like installation provides a calm public space that grounds its inhabitants with nature.
jeff dah-yue shi: LED bamboo
formed of bamboo with embedded LED lights, the bamboo piece functions as a recessed luminaire in addition to being incorporated into walls as a structural component. a separate mountable lamp serves smaller spaces.

constructed with locally sourced clay, sand, straw and water, this school's cob and bamboo structure will be protected from earthquake and rain events.
501 design studio: rainbow ruler
the 'rainbow ruler' consists of a repeating pattern of seven-colored acrylic resins, replacing numbers with color. a good alternative for those who are visual learners, and not so numerically inclined.
tanimatsumura: 'waft' stool
a stool made of hybrid plywood (laminated aluminium and beech wood) whose twisted form is meant to give the idea of 'leaves floating in the air'.
