gilbert13: aperitivo tower dining set

'aperitivo tower dining set' by angela and mark gilbert (studio gilbert 13) of the UK,
is one of the shortlisted entries of the designboom competition 'it's aperitivo time'
in collaboration with peroni and alessi.
designer's own words:
'a centrepiece to the aperitivo experience, the tower
presents a quick, easy and stylish
way of transporting, displaying and eating
aperitivo. the plates slot onto the central stem
creating an array of organically
shaped platters, inspired by the growths of leaves the
characterful waiter
displays and offers the food to its guests. the eclectic shaped wooden
stem is
inspired by the shapes and textures found in glassware, finished off at the top
by
an integral handle and at its base a die cast iron disc, reassuringly heavy
keeping the
product stable and also providing a utilitarian look which
contrasts with the high gloss stem.'
