‘amazon memo’ by li wen chang from taiwan

‘amazon memo’ by li wen chang from taiwan is one of the shortlisted entries from more than 2000 participants in the ‘endangered species‘ graphic design competition, organized by designboom in collaboration with tokyo designers week 2010.

by illustrating a macaw parrot out of sticky notes, an item which we normally use to remind ourselves of important things, the design intends to raise awareness and significance to the disappearing amazon rainforest.

designer’s own words: ‘with the highest biodiversity on earth, the amazon rainforest is now vanishing with amazing speed. the most serious problem to happen is that many species will become extinct in the near future. this poster is designed with a beautiful representative creature of the rainforest–the macaw, composed of small memo notes. moms remind people of important things to not forget which, in this case, is the vanishing amazing rainforest. furthermore, memo is made from paper, which are sourced from wood. this will enhance the message that everyday that we use a memo note, the amazon rainforest is vanishing at the same speed, and the creatures of the forest will disappear altogether.’
